Spring Severe Weather Awareness

show_image_2x.png

The Jefferson R-7 Fire Protection District reminds our Residents to be Severe Weather Aware.

Spring brings not only warmer weather but also the return of the increased risk of severe weather including floods, damaging winds, hail, lightning, and tornadoes. Make sure your family has and reviews their preparedness plans for severe weather before it happens.

We highly recommend each household have a working weather alert radio to receive timely weather warning alerts from the National Weather Service.

Jefferson County 911 also administers the free CODE RED Emergency Notification System. CODE RED is a reverse 9-1-1 system which delivers automated weather warnings and public safety alerts to your landline or cellular phone. Code Red also allows us to issue IPAWS alerts. IPAWS (Integrated Public Alert and Warning System) is the nation’s official alert and warning infrastructure to alert the public of serious emergencies (Evacuations, Shelter in Place, etc.). To signup for Jefferson County CODE RED services, complete the registration by clicking here.
